........the long awaited.... First: I will tell you the story and then I'll show you the pictures to go along with them. Ok we were in Florida for most of Spring Break and then flew to Arizona for a friend's wedding. We flew in on Thursday and that night Phil asked me if I would go to breakfast with him tomorrow. He told me not set my alarm and that he would wake me up. So Friday morning he wakes me up at like 6:00 and I thought someone had died because I was so tired (just kidding--basically I hate mornings). We drove out of Phoenix for a long time and parked in front of this place called Camelback Mountain. Ok here I am going to insert some pictures of the view from Camelback... Isn't it beautiful? We stopped halfway up because I was exhausted from being up so early. So we were at this little lookout and watched the sun rise together.
After the sun rose, Phil asked if he could do a devotion with me and so he opened up to Eccl. 5:4 and Eph. 5:25. He read them to me and when the line, "Husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church," came up I immediately started freaking out. He got down on one knee and said, "I want to be that husband that loves you as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. I love you. Will you marry me?" By that time I had said yes about five thousand times and then we were engaged!! This was right after he asked me and I had the ring on my finger. My "eyes were smiling" in this picture.
Then we sat and talked and kissed (obviously). It was so much fun. I heard all about his elaborate plan to get me to come up here and how he had asked my dad forever ago if he could marry me. We've only been dating about nine months so his parents were pretty shocked-in a good way- and they were all excited for us.
He designed the ring himself. The night before he proposed he got it out of its case. He said that he was so excited that he just looked at it pretty much all night. It's sooo pretty and sparkly. It's perfectly cut and there are barely any flaws. I love it so much, but the ring really doesn't matter compared to him. I am going to be a Woodbury |
